I knew Peter for more than 40 years and I can honestly say that I can't remember a single time when we exchanged a cross word. Disagreements, yes, on music and football and cars and other important stuff like whether a curry was the best option to end a night out with the boys (terrible idea, of course!) but never anything more serious than that. He was a true friend, a great laugh, an occasional support when that was needed and for which I shall be eternally grateful, an ever present member of a relatively successful quiz team most often known as The Not Enoughs and of course a regular companion on the golf courses, ski slopes and holiday resorts of the world.
